In Jose's Memory...

On February 6th, 1994, two members of the Golden Knights Black Demonstration team (of which I am a member) were performing the Diamond Track maneuver over the desert of Yuma, Arizona. In their fervor to get a close cross, in a split second and a few feet too close, they collided at about 360 miles per hour about 3000 feet above the ground. Dana Bowman lost both his legs and Jose Aguillon lost his life. Jose fell the rest of the way to earth and came to rest near a tree on Yuma Proving Grounds, not far from the green baseball field we land on several times a day. This evening our team will take a walk to that tree, pay our respects, and have a drink and a toast in his memory. Life is fleeting. Drink it in, treasure it, live it, love it.

That's horrible, Rachel. What a tragedy.
Love you.
Be careful.

Yours was a beautiful tribute to Jose. I think that remembering is so important. Remembering shapes our choices, our views, our reverence and our appreciation for all we are given. Jose lived to the fullest. I'd like to remember that I must do the same, live every day joyfully as if it may not last. May the Lord bless his family still.
