My bum hurts. That is the first thing that comes to mind when I see this little number. She's the newest addition to Rachel's collection of toys that cause some level of discomfort and cause sweating. In the same group are an extensive collection of running shoes, some cute little purple and pink weights, and yoga materials (mat, blocks, and DVDs). But seriously, I have found a great new activity: road cycling!!! I bought the bike, and Kevin had a nice, gentle suggestion that I take it for a test ride before I attempt the 16-mile ride to work. PSHAW!! That's crazy talk! Of course, I rode it to work Friday. My legs were a little shaky all day and I was hungry as a horse pretty much the whole day. After the weekend off, I figured, gee if I can ride it one way, both ways should be a snap! The way in wasn't bad, cause it's 5am and it's cool out. The way back was BRUTAL. The sun was beating down, it's about as humid as the arcata pool times ten, it's 95 degrees but feels like 110, plus I took a slightly different route that wound up adding 4 miles to the ride. When I finally did limp up my front stairs I was so hungry I thought my stomach was eating itself so I made a snack...two types of crackers, cheese slices, cheese cubes, cream cheese, cut-up strawberries, some grapes, a yogurt, a piece of toast, some water, and five cookies. Then I went to sleep, duh!!! As I sit here, I feel like I was hit by a truck at some point today, and everything aches. Needless to say I'm driving in to work tomorrow...I guess I should start slow...yeah good idea. Geez, Kev!! Why didn't you say something earlier!
